There’s an age-old dilemma in the medical field There’s an age-old dilemma in the medical field about what makes someone a better clinician: someone with decades of experience or a new grad armed with the latest information?

Experience doesn’t necessarily equal ability, but on the flip-side, knowledge doesn’t make up for a lack of experience.

The short answer is: you need BOTH. 💯

Thankfully, there are so many great ways to expand your knowledge base through courses and trainings, while gaining on-the-job experience with patients.

The MedSLP Collective is your destination for trainings, tools, and resources to grow your practice and expand your knowledge. To learn more visit the link in bio today! 📲

What does it mean to have patient-centered care? 💭

More than just a trendy buzzword, patient-centered care is the future of the healthcare industry and it’s essential that SLPs adapt accordingly.
Patient-centered means keeping a patient’s values at the core of their health care.

Patient-preference means considering a patient’s wishes.

Patient-experience refers to whether or not a patient’s expectations were met.
These terms are not all interchangeable and it’s important to know and consider the difference.

This is why communication with patients and their families is critical for SLPs. 💗
Special thanks to @talktoolstherapy for having me on to chat with your community and I look forward to presenting again at the end of April!
